Samsung SGH-T259

Do you want to sell or trade your Samsung SGH-T259?

Yes? Good, you’re at the right place.

But first, I need you to determine if you want to trade your phone for a better version, or if you want to sell it for cash?

After you decide, we’ll walk you through the steps to cash in or trade up.

In the meantime, let’s review your phone.

Design & Build

You might be surprised to hear that there is a small group of people who seek out flip phones. The vast majority of these people are those who wish to escape the chitter-chatter of social media and unplug from the matrix sort-of-speak. With that being said, every carrier needs a good flip phone to fulfill that small group of people out there. And that’s where the Samsung SGH-T259 comes to play.

This is a phone for a lone wolf. A person who doesn’t need their ego stroked by social media gestures. Or for a person who is introspective enough and doesn’t need any outside distractions for a false sense of connection.

The edgy sharp design of the Samsung SGH-T259 reflects the persona of people who would be interested in this phone. Let’s face it: You have to have a little edge to carry this phone. The phone’s glossy midnight-blue color also alludes to the mysterious loner type.

The shape edges of the phone contrast with round corners. When the phone is closed, it sits  comfortably in your hands. Comfort is only compromised when the phone is flipped open due to its sharp edges.

The Samsung SGH-T259 has a 1.3-inch external display and a 2.2-inch internal display. It has 128x128 and 240x320 pixel resolution. You can customize the wallpaper to show either a clock or an image. The clock displays information like date, signal strength, and battery life. The external screen shows incoming caller IDs. It also displays the number of missed calls and texts.

The menu bar is very intuitive. You can access settings and change font type, size, and color. The navigational array and number keys are large, spacious, and easy to use. And the volume rocker and memory slot is on the left, and the camera trigger button is on the right.

Features

Perhaps the best thing about this phone is that it doesn’t have a lot of features. The limited features it does have is crafted to near perfection. For example, the call quality is excellent. Some users say it’s just as good as a line phone or even better. The speakerphone is loud and the MP3 Player displays album art and has Bluetooth connectability.

Bluetooth headsets are a lifesaver for those of you who don't feel the need to buy a headphone adapter. If I haven’t stated before, the memory slot doubles to fit a micro adapter to fit a 3.5 mm headphone jack. This is pretty sad considering the phone is already … Well, a flip phone. Samsung could have at least added a headphone jack. That’s perhaps my biggest gripe about this phone. So if you already have wired headphones, be prepared to spend an extra $30 for the adapter.

Caller ID holds up to 1,000 contacts. Features include address book, multiple phone numbers, and email address. It also includes home address, birthday reminder, and note. Plus, you can also add a contact group, a photo, and designate 19 polyphonic ringtones.

Although the Samsung SGH-T259 is a phone for ultra minimalists, there are times when it makes sense to check-in on the world around you. That’s when T-Mobile’s Web2Go browser comes in handy. It’s not much, but then again, it was never meant to be. The widget-based home page displays the weather, news, sports, and so on for a quick glance. T-Mobile Mall is also available. You can buy games, wallpaper, ringtones, and other items.

I wish it came with a better camera. I know, I know … This is a flip phone—wait, let me rephrase—a very old flip phone. So what you get is a 2 MP camera that’s stupid grainy and dull. But hey, this phone is ancient after all.

The camera also doubles as a camcorder. And it’s just as bad as the camera. It records at 320 x 240 pixels resolution. But at least there’s a nifty feature that allows you to send 30 sec multimedia messages.
