With the release of Destiny’s second, and biggest, expansion – The Final Shape DLC – we’re on the cusp of the biggest use-or-lose scenario in gaming. Here we look at what the various deals are that might get you interested in joining the millions whose lives have turned Destiny 2 into both the biggest use-or-lose scenario in gaming and the most epic story in gaming history, and what the Destiny franchise might offer in a post-Final Shape universe.
The excitement in the gaming community is huge. Why? Because the upcoming The Final Shape DLC for Destiny 2 will mark the end of Destiny’s 10-year Light and Darkness Saga – and players will get to witness the story of the Traveler, will get to take control of the Prismatic subclass, and will combat the all-powerful Witness to determine if the universe shall continue to exist or plummet into chaos.
As we approach the release of The Final Shape, players both old and new can find great deals on Destiny 2 DLCs. With discounts reaching 87% off on collections such as the Destiny 2: Legacy Collection 2023, you can start exploring Destiny 2's vast lore in a new, inexpensive and unforgettable way.
Now’s a pretty good time to pick up a pair of Guardian’s boots, considering the generous discounts available on every expansion leading right up to Lightfall. These deals aren’t simple dollar-saves, but content ships. They offer access to expansions like Lightfall, as well as every other significant release in between like Shadowkeep and Beyond Light, which have been instrumental in shaping Destiny as we know it today (and if you’re that weird person that aspires to fill out your entire collection, this deal is a no-brainer, and I seriously envy you).
The Final Shape isn’t just the end of an era for Destiny 2, but the start of a new one. With the DLC, Bungie is introducing a mechanic called Fireteam Power that will make the game more accessible by allowing players of different power levels to tackle more challenging content together. This is only one of the many changes Bungie is making this season, but it sets an example for the company’s more active role in the Destiny 2 community and the evolution of the game’s mechanics.
Though Destiny 2 ultimately anchors its play experiences in PvE, it’s not afraid to throw in some competitive spice, from mini-maps in strikes to big thrills like the Crucible and Trials of Osiris, even if they are not as fresh or rewarding as when first introduced in the original Destiny. Stunning campaigns, mind-numbing raid designs, and rich buildcrafting continue to draw players (as do the exciting promises of the multiclassing Prismatic subclass), and will keep them busy deciphering everything The Final Shape has in store.
As Bungie prepares to launch the live campaign – The Final Shape – it is equally preparing for the next phase of Destiny’s life, in part by introducing the new packages with layers of ancient resonance, such as the Legacy Collection, and also by making large portions of its game content playable without payment, opening the gates and making the path forward accessible to all, even as the world continues to ramp up its seasonal, event-based content.
Destiny 2 is perhaps a special case, but legacy is a core component of the game’s success. It celebrates the game’s history, its ongoing story, and its community, and, as The Final Shape nears, it’s time for fans to reflect. With Endless Vistas, this DLC isn’t an ending – it is a celebration of legacy, establishing new stories, new challenges and new memories in one of gaming’s most endearing universes.
In other words, while the fate of Destiny 2 lies not in its story or its expansions, but rather in its moments, friends created and communities grown, what do the Guardians’ legacies as players look like as The Final Shape comes for a chapter of Destiny 2’s story? Destiny 2 – revived, reimagined, and no longer in the shadows of its namesake – looks to the future. Moments, friends, and communities still linger and – assuming that there’s more adventures, more lore and legend to come – will continue to linger for Guardians.
