As the technology industry continues to accelerate, APPLE once again sets the bar – Apple leads in iOS 18, a new operating system to be announced right after iPhone 16 launch. A new era of mobile technology dawns with iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max – everything set to make their debut – and change our world.
At the centre of this wave of innovation is the new operating system iOS 18. It is set to revolutionise the way that the holder of an iPhone can interact with their device, with a number of improved features hitting the market. APPLE fans and geeks everywhere will bid fond farewell to iOS 17, the update that they have welcomed with open arms.
Another pioneering addition with iOS 18 is something that addresses charging, especially when it comes with the new iPhone 16 series this year as announced to revolutionise how we charge our phones. With this year's groundbreaking advancement, APPLE is taking a strong step forward by merging fast charging capabilities with iOS 18 inventiveness to make users' experience a whole lot better.
A new feature of the Battery Settings that iOS 18 will introduce is the ‘Slow Charger’ warning which, as the name implies, would tell you when you’re charging your iPhone at slow speeds – in orange on the Battery Level graph, rather than green for faster charges. Never mind what causes this warning (at least not now), the point is that APPLE wants you to charge your iPhone faster so as to be ready to use it whenever you are.
Rumours are swirling that the iPhone 16 series will support 45W charging speeds, a significant increase from what’s currently listed on Apple.com – 20W via USB-C and 30W via MagSafe. If true, this could officially usher in a new era of charging. Unless, of course, the rumour is false. And APPLE never comments on rumours, of course.
One of these would allow you to set a charging cap at 85 per cent, 90 per cent or 95 per cent. This isn’t the maximum charge allowed, which for many years was set by APPLE at 80 per cent, but rather a limit on when the charging process stops. In this way, protecting battery health is central to the experience of operating an iPhone. But setting a charging cap also allows you to extend your device’s overall lifetime by slowing down the degradation of its most important component – its battery.
It’s not just a minor update to charging principles that iOS 18 brings to the iPhone, but rather an upgrade that enriches the iPhone experience in other ways as well. Those who like to know what’s coming next should check out our iOS 18 hub, where we break down what’s new.
As the iPhone 16 series takes to the stage, each model will come in dozens of colours to match every individual’s mood. That technical detail is purely aesthetics. Beyond playing into our desire to express ourselves, it’s a clever way of making APPLE seem like another bespoke product. And by this point, why wouldn’t it be seen that way?
Each launch has its surprises, of course, and it’s safe to say that even the most hardcore APPLE fan can be taken aback by some of the features of the iPhone 16 Pro, which treads this fine line between familiarity and innovation.
Updating to iOS 18 is not just an upgrade, it’s a step up. Here are just a few reasons you should make the jump.
The beating heart in all of these developments is APPLE: the tech giant that is forever pushing the limits of what is possible. For a greedy and acquisitive company, always hungry for our attentions, that desire becomes a quest for innovation that will ensure that whatever device is next, whatever operating system – iOS 18, perhaps – will go some way towards creating a future in which using technology is no longer a means to an end, but a fundamental part of living our lives.
In a nutshell, iOS 18 is what APPLE sees as the future – a future where you get all the speed and technology users want, coupled with user experience that is at the peak of sophistication. With the iPhone 16-series launch accompanied by the release of iOS 18, shall we welcome you to the future, courtesy of APPLE? With APPLE constantly updating and improving all aspects of its products, the innovation cycle would seem to never end, because there is nothing to stop it. With each update, each iPhone and feature addition, we move further on the journey, but there is no endpoint. The future is now, and APPLE is taking us with it.
