Sell Samsung ATIV Tab 5
Samsung seems to be undecided about the direction to tow with the ATIV Tab series. Is the Android giant trying to create a laptop-Esque tablet or just releasing another lineup of devices with a super-sized screen?
In our opinion, the ATIV Tab 5 is a tablet. Nothing more or less. It does have a somewhat full-size keyboard, but it is a detachable accessory.
The slim ATIV Tab 5 is just 9.9mm thick and three ounces thicker than an iPad. Even the CPU, the Atom Z2760 ("Clover Trail"), does not match the chips on a standard laptop. So if you're looking for laptop power in the ATIV Tab 5, it would be best to reduce your expectations.
Although the ATIV Tab 5’s success as a laptop leaves much to be desired, but it compares favorably to the latest crop of ARM-based tablets.
It runs the complete version of Windows 8, rather than the tweaked Windows RT found on Microsoft's Surface RT.
Let's dig into the ATIV Tab specifications and look at the steps to trade or sell your ATIV Tab on Gizmogo.
Samsung ATIV Tab 5 Specifications
Design info: The ATIV Tab 5 is easily one of the higher-end units Samsung has ever made. Samsung combines the experience from building successful Android devices and the Samsung Galaxy Tab lineup to build a Windows-powered tablet.
From the look and size, the ATIV Tab 5 wasn't built to be a handheld device. It was meant to be a laptop substitute. Some consumers may find that the ATIV Tab 5 can do all they want on a laptop.
This tablet has just about any port and socket you might want in a tablet, sporting a full-sized USB 2.0 port, SIM card port, and microSD card slot (for up to 64GB capacity). There are two built-in microphone holes (not for larger microphones) that provide noise cancellation, as well as a micro HDMI slot on the left.
There's a button that turns off/on the display's rotation lock, a power button that also locks the screen, and ports for attaching accessories like a keyboard.
The tablet supports wide-area networking, including Wi-Fi, which allows you to surf the Internet for free by linking to a hotspot, Bluetooth technology, and a USB 2.0 port for exchanging data with other users. It also supports 3G networks and HSPA technology, which allows you to browse the Web using a SIM card.
Last but not least, there is a micro-HDMI port for connecting to high-definition cameras or larger screens like your TV.
It is available in White or Mystic Blue (Blue for sure if you like LTE).
Capacity info: Inside the Samsung ATIV Tab 5, a 128GB RAM and 2GB ROM powers things. This configuration is enough to support standard and heavy-duty tasks. However, the device may lag when multitasking between graphic-intensive apps.
Size and weight info: The tablet measures 304 x 189.4 x 9.9mm and weighs 744g. It's certainly not light, but it's also not the heaviest in this category. Thanks to ergonomic design, the ATIV Tab 5 is easy to hold. Samsung added curves to the edge of the device to improve grip and balance on the palm.
Display info: The 11.6-inch touchscreen on the front uses PLS technologies (Super Plane-to-Line switching) for fantastic viewing angles galore, but the resolution (pixels) isn't all that great at 1,366 x 768.
That's 135 pixels per inch, which is significantly smaller than the competition, but it's not half bad when compared to the PC world (unless you're talking about "Retina" standard screens, which are getting more popular). Let's say that you'll be pleased if you've only ever used a laptop and this is your first tablet.
Water-resistance info: The Samsung ATIV Tab 5 is not water-resistant. You shouldn't use it in or around liquid, heat, or dust to avoid sobbing stories.
Chip info: Within the ATIV Tab 5 is an Intel Atom Processor Z2760, dual-core at 1.8GHz, with 2GB of LPDDR2 RAM.
In the US, Europe, and the UK, the market has evolved past such specifications in a tablet. If you want to upgrade, consider selling your ATIV Tab 5 or exchanging it for a higher version on Gizmogo.
Camera info: As with most tablets on the market, the camera on this unit is designed to be used sparingly. Samsung states that the lens on the back is an 8 megapixels snapper, but the output is basic compared to a Samsung phone. The Samsung S III can produce brilliant shots with its 8MP shooter.
Videography: Yes, this tab can film videos. Like the images, don't expect too much from the video. You can get better quality by using the tablet in good light to remove shadows and make objects glow.
Battery information: The 4080mAh 30Whr battery on the ATIV Tab 5 is estimated to have a runtime of up to 13 hours. According to PCWorld Labs testing, the battery life is 9 hours and 14 minutes. This isn't a terrible runtime, but we can't help but point out that it pales compared to Apple's 3rd generation iPad's 10:46 uptime. Even so, the Samsung ATIV Tab 5 outperforms the Surface RT (9:05) and the Asus VivoTab RT (8:20).
