iPad Mini 1st Gen (2012)

Sell iPad Mini 1st Gen (2012)

Launched in 2012, the iPad Mini is Apple's smallest tablet, the smallest of its famous line of mini-tablets. With a 7.9-inch screen and a weight of less than a pound, this small tablet is ultra-portable and ideal for carrying on the go.

The iPad Mini has mid-range pricing, which starts at $399, making it a decent option for the budget-conscious buyer. It is backed by a one-year limited warranty, which is common among competitors.

While its compact size is its most distinguishing characteristic, this tablet comes with many useful features to help it compete with full-size rivals. The stand-out features would be its fingerprint ID that allows you to log in with a single click, the compatibility with Bluetooth keyboards, and the first-generation Apple Pencil, which extends its functionality.

Despite its small scale, this smart tablet sported powerful front- and rear-facing cameras for its time, with resolutions of 1.2 megapixels (MP) and 5 megapixels (MP), respectively.

Keep in mind that the iPad mini was the fourth major product in the iPad line-up and the first of its kind. So it was a novelty in every way for Apple consumers. However, in today's market, the iPad mini is out of its depth. Without looking at the competition out Apple ecosystem, you can count up to 4 iPads that can replace the iPad mini in every way.

Just in case you're ready to sell your iPad mini, you can do so on Gizmogo.

iPad Mini specifications

Design: The iPad Mini is a small tablet with a 7.9-inch screen and dimensions of 8 inches by 5.30 inches by 0.28 inches, making it easy to fit into a backpack or purse. The Wi-Fi version weighs 308 grams (10.86 oz).

The mini comes with the standard iPad home button and other physical markers, except for the speaker grille, which was relocated to the bottom of the unit (it had previously been around back for iPads prior until this version), as well as the new Lightning port.

The stereo speakers sound great. Separate volume controls are located on the right side under the mute / rotate lock toggle, and the power/sleep button is located on the left, as expected. The front of the tablet is entirely made of glass, except for an HD camera in the middle of the top bezel (when kept in portrait mode) and the home button on the right. On the back, there's also a 5-megapixel sensor.

The iPad Mini (2012) is available in two different colors: Silver/white and Black/Slate.

Capacity info: It is available in three different base storage options. The base edition comes with 16 GB of storage, but you can upgrade to the 32GB or 64GB model. There is no SD card slot to extend your storage capabilities later, so if you're concerned about running out of space with the base model, it would be best to get the model with the biggest memory space.

Although Apple did not publicly disclose the amount of RAM in its iOS devices, benchmark apps revealed that our iPad mini (2012) had 512GB of RAM.

Display info: The iPad mini (2012) 's 7.9-inch display is tiny for an iPad, but it's a pretty nice screen. Our only criticism is that the thick bezels, make it seem out of date at this stage. Well, a 2012 tablet is actually out of date in 2021.

That said, the resolution of the Mini's IPS screen is 1024 x 768. It has the exact resolution as the original iPad for those keeping track. This results in a pixel density of 163 PPI.

In general, it's a very nice-looking display. The display was developed just like the iPhone 5 and iPad, resulting in a crystal-clear screen that seems to float just a tad under glass. Colors are bright, blacks are intense, and sports, images, and videos all look fantastic.

Water-resistance info: it is not water-resistant.

Chip information: The 2012 iPad Mini is fitted with an Apple A5 chip, Dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A9, and PowerVR SGX543MP2, GPU.

Camera info: The iPad 2 never got HDR or the Panorama mode that wowed consumers so much on the iPhone 5, and the iPad mini doesn't either. However, it sports a more potent camera than the iPad 2, with a 5-megapixel shooter with an f/2.4 lens and a front-facing 1.2-megapixel Facetime HD camera. The rear camera happens to be the same camera module used on the iPhone 4, and as such, it produces high-quality images.

Videography: It also takes decent footage, recording at 1080p like all of Apple's new cameras. However, because of the lower-resolution sensor and the lack of a newer image processing unit, image stabilization isn't quite as powerful as it is on the iPhone 5. So, keep still when filming. Remember to do so in an area with ample light. Do that, and you'll get some quality video.

Battery info: You can expect up to 10 hours of run time on the iPad mini's 4490 mAh battery.
