There's plenty of exciting features about HTC's first-ever 10-inch tablet. A tablet from 2011 that can connect to a 4G LTE network was definitely designed to prove a point. Perhaps, HTC wanted us to know they were capable of breaking the records by launching the most powerful Honeycomb-powered Android tablet of its time. So much that every tech-savvy person back then would have loved to get their hands on this device. What was so compelling about it anyways?
Months before the Jetstream was launched, HTC dropped the Flyer. The HTC Flyer was an interesting tablet, but users wanted more as the Android Gingerbread OS of the Flyer was hardly satisfying. Perhaps as a response to that, HTC released a 10-inch tab that integrated HTC's Sense User Interface 1.1 with the Honeycomb Android 3.1 and took the battery life to another entirely different level.
September 2011 came, and HTC fans' enthusiasm went over the roof as they got more than what they expected from HTC with features like the WXGA 10 inch touchscreen display, the 900 hours standby battery life, and its 4G LTE compatibility. The Jetstream's thoughtful design and good build quality make it admirable, but the device may not have gotten as many purchases as it deserved as most considered it overpriced at $700 at that time.
Nonetheless, if you're interested in a retro tab that has all the durability and functionality you need, like the HTC Jetstream, Gizmogo can make that happen for you. Price does matter to you as well as to us, and as the price of the Jetstream has naturally depreciated, you may just get it at an amazing price with us.
Design info: At 709 grams, the first thing anyone will notice on lifting this device is its heft. However, HTC has worked its charm into the design such that you very quickly forget about its weight and take your time to appreciate its design and the ease with which it can be held. HTC eliminated all rigid edges making it not only easy but comfortable to hold in your hand as the curved aluminum edges gently make their way from the back to the side.
The Jetstream continued to portray HTC's flair for quality build with its aluminum unibody cover and grey strips of plastic with a soft touch. This all gives off an impression of rare elegance and sophistication that everyone can be pleased about. The grey plastic panel covering the panel on top can be slid upwards to expose the SD card slot and the mini-SIM card slot.
Just before the soft textured plastic on the bottom, two stereo speakers are visible on each side of the tablet. Like every other tablet, it has a 3.5mm headset jack.
Capacity info: The Jetstream comes with 32 GB of internal memory and a 1GB ROM.
Size and Weight info: The device weighs and 709 grams (1.56 lb) and has dimensions of 251 x 1178 x 13mm.
Display info: Most premium tablets take pride in their remarkable screen and display quality. The Jetstream follows this tradition, as its screen takes centre stage of its enticing features. Unfortunately, the Jetstream's screen also has its downsides. On the good side, it is fitted with a 1280 x 800 WXGA display, which means you'll watch your 720 p movies and videos with all the glory that it comes in.
However, the tab has a low pixel density of 150, causing images and icons on the background to almost noticeably appear striped.
Meanwhile, the screen features a 10.1 inch LCD with a brilliant fingerprint-resistant display and a multi-touch capacitive dual digitizer that works with the HTC Scribe pen.
Camera info: If held slanting, the fine grey plastic allows a double LED 8-megapixel flash-enabled camera to pop out intelligently on the rear in the upper right corner. The Jetstream was able to compete favorably with premium devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in terms of quality of pictures taken. In addition, the Jetstream could boast of an impressive front camera.
Videography: Video recording allows up to 1080p at 30fps.
Water-resistance info: The HTC Jetstream is neither water or drop resistant. So you should try to use it under water or drop it from high spot.
Chip info: The Jetstream fulfils HTC user's dreams by combining a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 1.5Hz Snapdragon processor with an Android 3.1 Honeycomb version. It features Wi-Fi as expected, Bluetooth A2DP 3.0, and A GPS and also supports a quad-band GSM network.
Connection info: The HTC Jetstream will allow you to connect with any capacity of your choice, be it 2G, 3G or even 4G, depending on your specification. So, you have absolutely nothing to worry about whether you're on EDGE or HSDPA or GPRS; your connection will be fine. The device can also connect using LTE for those particular about internet speed; it works at 14.4Mbps on HSDPA and 5.76Mbps on HUSPA.
Battery info: The battery life of the Jetstream is quite impressive. From a 4000mAh in HTC's previously released tablet to sealing a 7300mAh Lithium-ion battery in the Jetstream. That much capacity is enough to provide up to 12 hours of usage time. You'll also get a 1.67amp and 9 volt USB charger with your device.
That said, keep in mind that the battery runtime is dependent on the use intensity. If you're an intensive user, you should expect the device to serve you half the day.
