You dream of flip phones coming back into fashion. Samsung would like to make that dream come true. Since the launch of the new iPhone SE that looks like an iPhone 8, and has the same Touch ID button, it’s looking increasingly likely that the flat-screen smartphone is here to stay. As they say, Samsung did it first with the flip iPhone. But the Korean tech giant is doubling down on the foldable phone front with the much-anticipated new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is rumoured to be officially revealed on 10 July this year. That’s all well and good, but what does that mean for the rest of us? In the not-so-distant future, we might just be dreaming in colour.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be available in Blue, Mint, Silver Shadow and Yellow so there’s a hue to match every user’s personality while Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will delight its users in Navy, Pink and Silver Shadow colours. This way Samsung’s latest customers will not just get to enjoy these foldable phones as a technological marvel but also as a fashion statement.
Taking exclusivity a step further, both models will come in additional colours if bought from Samsung’s online store: Sleek White and Crafted Black, and in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, an exclusive Peach option.
Thanks to reliable leaks from prolific tipster Evan Blass and the well-connected Ross Young, there has been plenty of hype surrounding these colour options. With previous leaks from both of them being correct, it’s hard not to get excited about these leaks because it means they’re likely real – and the same can be said for the hype built around them.
For all the stunning new colours, however, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 are more than just pretty faces. Gossip suggests that they will be powered by a leading-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, again stressing Samsung’s determination to provide a totally top-notch performance. Even more importantly, some industry insiders are also speculating about possible upgrades for the new Z Flip 6, including a larger cover screen and a brand-new 50MP main camera – which would be serious Samsung motivation for upgrading.
The rumoured upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 seem not only to be riding the foldable trendwave, but to be industry-leading crests along that wave. If the rumoured features come true, Samsung’s new devices could be 2024’s best folding phones.
After all, Samsung is still a mobile tech innovator, constantly locking horns with Apple for mobile excellence. And with each successive release, Samsung reasserts itself as the king of the hill when it comes to what smartphones can be. Tech fans eagerly await the launch to see what will be both new and improved.
Along with the possibility of new features – and those vibrant, exclusive shades that Samsung began to bring in with the Z Fold 3 – is the hope (and expectation) that these phones will attract techies as much as they do the style set. As we ramp up to the news, there’s one thing we know is certain: the future of foldables is brighter than it’s ever been, and Samsung is ready to lead the charge into a multi-hued foldable world.
